History

The impetus to starting Midagon came from a vision of professional excellence with a heart.

From the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s, Petri Malmelin was in the service of a leading international consultancy firm. His duties had him working for the most renowned businesses in their sectors, on projects of great importance to these client organizations. The work held his interest and also provided an opportunity for professional growth. Results were achieved, the team grew, and motivation never became an issue.

saatimet.jpgClimbing the career ladder brought about a shift in duties, however. The international business models of a large firm, increased responsibilities, human resources considerations, business development, sales and the preparation of tenders combined with high-responsibility project roles put increasing pressures on time management. Constant overtime was eating into time spent with family, friends and personal interests.

Gradually the idea arose of a firm where experienced project management professionals could focus on the most prestigious, interesting and meaningful projects in their respective fields of excellence;: work reasonable hours; occupy a permanent place on the motivating part of the learning curve; and spend time with people and things important to them: all this while still earning a competitive salary.

Petri decided to go into business for himself and started Midagon in the autumn of 2006. The first year was split between client projects and a review of accounting, taxation and legal issues, while at the same time accumulating capital to help the business grow. Summer 2007 saw Petri embark on a determined path towards making his vision a reality.

At the beginning of 2008, after witnessing the positive changes in his former colleague, Ilkka Töyrylä decided to join the Midagon team. Virpi Kanala had already arrived at the same decision a little earlier. Isto Haverinen, Niina Maijala, Vesa Lujala and Elisa Tarkkanen all came on board in spring and summer 2009.

Professional excellence with a heart has proven a winning formula for Midagon, its employees and its clients alike. The vision will remain our guiding star in all future endeavours as well.
